Valentine’s 24

just smell the grass the dirt, just like I dreamed... today there is something different the air...

It's Valentine's Day!

Last year, I spoke about the history behind the day and the hyper focused attitude towards romantic love as opposed to other types of love.

This year, I want to remind you of self love. We often ignore this when we see cheesy quotes on Instagram and people with "ideal" bodies telling us how we should love ourselves.

The thing is, you may think having a perfect body, or a partner, or an opportunity , or whatever you desire would solve all your issues. And yes, maybe it would make life easier to an extent, but the fulfillment from life has to come from within. No one factor can fix things for you.

The greatest relationship you will have in this world is not with your parents, your siblings, or your partner, but with yourself. If you do not nurture time and effort into understanding who you are and what you need, you will struggle to find your purpose and enjoyment in life.

I have friends who are distressed at the idea of Valentine's Day alone. It's a reminder of a) what they're missing out of, exacerbated by the technological era, and b) what their worth must be if no one is interested in them.

How can we suppose one day defines our entire outlook and perspective on love?

Every day is a chance to get to know the people around us, as well as who we are and what we want to get out of life. The world doesn't stop turning because it's February 14th.

Whatever your situation: single, taken, complicated, I hope you have an amazing day, whether you want to make a fuss and enjoy, or just have an ordinary day. There's magic in the ordinary life too.
